Conferences

Over the past few years I’ve attended a bunch of geek/coder events in the Colorado Mountains. It always surprises me how much I can learn by getting away, being around some really smart people, and writing code with them. So I’m incredibly excited to be attending The Programming Summer Camp 2011 this summer in Crested Butte, Colorado!

At the summer camp you can choose which campsite to hangout in. Or if you want, you can create your own campsite! I’ll probably spend most of my time in the Scala campsite. But I look forward to mingling in some of the other campsites as well.

In a few weeks I’ll be speaking in Atlanta at DevNexus and at the Atlanta Flex User Group. On March 21, 2011 at DevNexus I have two sessions:

• Rapid Mobile & Tablet App Development with Spring and Flex

On March 22, 2011 at the Atlanta Flex User Group I will be presenting about Flex 4.5 - The Non-Mobile New Features.

While I was at the Emerging Technologies for the Enterprise conference in Philly I was able to participate in a very fun podcast. The casual chat was hosted by Ken Rimple of Chariot Solutions. Participating in the podcast were Adam Coomes of Infegy, Ed Burns of Oracle, Cote of Redmonk, and myself. Topics ranged from cheesesteaks to turbo buttons. With the recent beta releases of Flash Builder 4 and Flash Catalyst there is a lot of fun stuff going on. Next week I’ll be speaking in Zurich at Jazoon on Tuesday about RIAs with Java, Spring, Hibernate, BlazeDS, and Flex. On Wednesday I’ll be speaking in Copenhagen about Flex 4 and Flash Catalyst. Thursday I’m back in Zurich speaking about Flex 4. And finally on Friday I’ll be speaking at Flash at the Lake about Pixel Bender and pbjAS. Lots of fun stuff! I hope to see some of you along the way.
