Today I’ll be presenting at CodeMash 2013 about Client/Server Apps with HTML5, Play, CoffeeScript, and More. Here is the session description: The web application landscape is rapidly shifting back to a Client/Server architecture. This time around the Client is JavaScript, HTML, and CSS in the browser. The tools and deployment techniques for these types of applications are abundant and fragmented. This session will teach you how to pull together jQuery, LESS, Twitter Bootstrap, and some CoffeeScript to build the Client.

Presenting at GraphConnect 2012: Building & Deploying Graph-based Web Apps

On November 6th I will be presenting Building & Deploying Graph-based Web Apps at the GraphConnect 2012 conference in San Francisco. Here is the session description: This session will teach you how to build a Graph-based web application with Java, Play Framework, and Neo4j. You will also lean how to deploy the application on the cloud with Heroku. The session will primarily be code and live demos. I hope to see you there!

Heroku & Play Framework at JavaOne 2012

This year at JavaOne I’ll be presenting two session and participating in one BOF: BOF4149 - Web Framework Smackdown 2012 - Monday @ 8:30pm Much has changed since the first Web framework smackdown, at JavaOne 2005. Or has it? The 2012 edition of this popular panel discussion surveys the current landscape of Web UI frameworks for the Java platform. The 2005 edition featured JSF, Webwork, Struts, Tapestry, and Wicket. The 2012 edition features representatives of the current crop of frameworks, with a special emphasis on frameworks that leverage HTML5 and thin-server architecture.

Heroku at JavaZone 2012

I’m really looking forward to being back at JavaZone in Oslo this September! I’ll be speaking about Running Java, Play! and Scala Apps on the Cloud. This session will teach you how to get started deploying Java and Scala apps on Heroku. I’ll be around for the whole conference, so if anyone wants to grab a drink, deploy some apps, or write some code with me, then let me know. See you there!

Heroku at Jfokus and Spring I/O 2012

In just a few weeks I’ll be over in Europe presenting about Heroku at two fantastic Java conferences. First up is Jfokus in Stockholm! On February 14 at 20:00 I will be leading a Cloud Conversations BoF. Then on February 15 at 11:10 I will be speaking about how to “git push” Java & Play! Apps to the Cloud. This will be my first time speaking at Jfokus and I’m really excited because I’ve heard such great things.

Heroku Preso from Devoxx 2011

As expected… Devoxx 2011 rocked! Such a fun conference with top notch sessions and people. I presented a session on how to deploy Java, Play Framework, and Scala apps on Heroku. Matt Raible did a great (and very thorough) write-up on my session. Thanks Matt! Here are my slides: There was also some hot news at Devoxx… Play Framework 2 is the official web framework in the Typesafe Stack! And Heroku already supports Play 2!

I’m very excited to be presenting at Dreamforce (salesforce.com’s anual conference) this year! On Thursday, September 1, from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm I will be presenting: Developing Java Cloud Apps The cloud makes it easy to deploy highly scalable apps in an instant. This session will walk you through the steps to build your first Java app for the cloud. You’ll also learn best practices for building mission-critical and horizontally scalable Java cloud apps.
